HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

July of 1975 William (Billy) Price and his wife, Elaine, stepped out in faith and moved from Lynchburg, VA to Covington to plant a church!

Humble beginnings of Faith Baptist Church took place Sunday, August 3, 1975!  Services were held in the former American Legion building, better known as "the hut" in downtown Covington, VA. 

Led by Pastor Billy, 28 adults were present during Sunday School hour as well as classes for children taught by Elaine.   Including 50 people, corporate Worship took place with a warm welcome, music, and preaching.  

Joined together in the evening hour were 100 individuals viewing the film "The Burning Hell."

Indeed, evidence of the goodness of God!

CHARTER
In the year of our Lord, October 28, 1975

WE, the undersigned, relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit and by the signing of our names hereto do agree and covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ and with one another that we do constitute ourselves as Charter Members of the Faith Baptist Church, Covington, Virginia.
FURTHER, we, the undersigned, each declare and confess with our faith wholly in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation by the experience of the new birth that we have been baptized and therefore are qualified to become Charter Members.
ALSO, we, the undersigned, do believe in those great distinctive principles for which born again Christians have ever stood, namely:

1.The pre-eminence of Christ as our Divine Lord and Master.
2.The supreme authority of the Bible and its sufficiency as our only rule of faith and practice.
3.The right of private interpretation and the competency of the individual soul in direct approach to God.
4.The absolute separation of Church and State.
5.The regenerate church membership.
6.  The beautiful symbolic ordinance of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper in obedience to the command of Christ.
7.The complete independence of the local church and its inter-dependence in associated fellowship with other churches.
8.The solemn obligation of majority rule, guaranteeing equal rights to all and special privileges to none.
9.A world-wide program of missionary favor and evangelism in obedience to the final command of the Lord Jesus Christ.
10.The personal, imminent, pre-millennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

AND, we, the undersigned, accept the doctrines of the Articles of Faith included herein; and, accept the duties of
the Church Covenant included herein; we assemble ourselves together as the Faith Baptist Church. 

NEW BEGINNINGS

Within three years the congregation outgrew space the hut provided and plans were put into place for moving forward.
 
A beautiful piece of property located in the Jackson Heights area of Covington became the grounds for a new building.

Precise and timely details of new beginnings were provided by the Sovereign God and included all necessary resources for construction of a new place for worship.

Services were well-attended with people filling the building from the very start!  Times were exciting as the children's ministry flourished.  

Faith Baptist congregation continues to love, worship, serve, and praise Jesus.  With gratitude, we all look forward to all that is to come.

God's timing is always perfect and his provision never ceases to amaze us all.  Praise Him from whom all blessings flow!
